About Alyson
My Background

I moved to Lethbridge in 2007 to teach at the university in the Faculty of Education. Prior to this, I taught in Ontario for 28 years. During my time teaching and preparing the next generations of teachers, I became deeply interested in the ways in which people change and grow. This led me to complete a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and to become registered as a provisional psychologist in Alberta.
My Clientele

I work individually with youth (16+) and adults who wish to improve their emotional wellbeing and learn skills to help them live full and balanced lives. My particular areas for counselling are depression, anxiety, grief and loss, phobias, and trauma-related issues.

My Personal Interests

When I am not working, I enjoy hiking, travelling, and riding my motorcycle!
My Practice

As a provisional psychologist, I am supervised by Erin Musick, R. Psych., who oversees my work and provides me with valuable consultation regarding the best ways in which to help my clients. Both my clients and I benefit from the depth of her experiences and her expertise. I use approaches such as cognitive-behavioural, solution-focused, and mindfullness-based therapies among others. I am also trained in EMDR, which is effective for phobias, PTSD, and various traumas. I offer my services on a sliding scale based on household income.
